During the pandemic period, shipping companies had thier own heyday. So much so that the freight price of a 40' container increased up to 10 times.
However, with the end of the pandemic, the tide turned. According to the World Container Index (Drewry), which currently shows 40' container price on main routes, the shipping price of a 40' container is $2,046.
Turkish shipowners want the VAT applied to them to be decreased from 18% to 1% in order to get out of the bottleneck.
